Who would think that Antonio Cavalieri Ducati and his three sons, Adriano, Marcello, and Bruno Cavalieri Ducati, founders of Società Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati in 1926, would now become producers  best known for high performance motorcycles worldwide? After producing several styles of motorcycle engines, which were accepted by many superbike enthusiasts in the world, and […]

The habit of attending premiere transport shows date back to 2008. Back then, it was my first time to watch the Transport Show, which at that time, the first event was held at the Megatrade Hall, Bldg B at the SM Megamall in Ortigas Center. I still recall that the show run from April 16-20, 2008. “Where will you spend the long weekend this time?” a good friend asked, seeing that we’re approaching a national holiday and it seemed customary for families to spend long weekends together. I smiled and said “somewhere nice and cheap,” because there are numerous beautiful places to go to, but finding something within the budget may be a challenge […]

If there is one event that motorcycle enthusiasts  need to block off their calendars, it should better be the  Partakan’s “Ride and Rock” Themed Festival.   Partakan is an Ilocano term for “speed” and this festivity takes place every summer.   Last April 2014, ROPALI MOTORCYCLES sponsored the festivity at the Pozo Robo Beach Resort […]

I love to travel. I like to move around from place to place and appreciate the beauty of my surroundings including nature and modern atmosphere. It jives with my personality of being such a curious cat. I probably have such a deep urge to discover where, what, when, why/why not, who, how and most of […]

    The Side Tripper

“Make sure you don’t take any side trips,” warns Schumler, from a phrase in the 1993 American film Swing Kids. If you are someone who does not have time to lose, then it is better for you to stick to your main agenda, because there is something about side tripping that submerges the soul in experiences that sometimes make you hope that time would stand still, as the experiences they bring can be more impactful than the main trip itself. It is that free flowing agenda, an unexpected sleepover or a detour that has unintentionally brought pleasant surprises. You can live without it, like you can eat a cake without its icing, but your journey may not be as meaningful. If travel is the ‘best medicine for the heart’,* then for me, side trips are secret ingredients to the most memorable travels and other events that can happen in between or off the main route of one’s itineraries. Welcome to Side Tripper, a collection of photographs and blogs about the many side trip adventures of our family and friends. *Source: The Global Commission on Aging and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, in partnership with the U.S. Travel Association (Los Angeles Times, December 17, 2013 by Chris Erskine)
