The book “Lead, Don’t Manage Your People” by Jim Black was formally launched on a late afternoon of October not so long ago, at the Top Shelf floor in Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street in Manila.
The book offers 15 fundamental principles for effective people management, coming from Jim’s over 40 years of broad experience and leadership roles. Apart from being an author, Jim is also the founder and owner of Applied Leadership Services (LLC), the company behind a number of seminars and trainings aimed at improving leadership effectiveness and employee productivity.
The author also happens to be a former boss of my 
former colleague and friend, Yolly. It was also the first time for Yolly and me to meet again after the many years she left the company where I also work.
Yolly introduced me to Jim and I was one of the blessed few who were able to personally had a tête-à-tête with him prior and after the book launch.
Hopefully he’ll hit the town again.
