DJI Simplifies Everyday Vlogging with the New Palm-Sized Neo Drone

DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and camera technology, has launched the DJI Neo, its lightest and most compact drone yet, weighing only 135g. The Neo is designed for content creators and casual users who want an easy way to capture their everyday adventures. Unlike traditional drones, the Neo can be controlled without a remote, launched and landed directly from the palm of your hand. With features like AI subject tracking, QuickShots, and ultra-stabilized 4K video, DJI Neo simplifies aerial photography for users of all experience levels.

“At DJI, we’re constantly innovating to make capturing moments easier and more accessible,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI. “With the Neo, we’ve packed advanced features into a small, user-friendly drone that allows anyone to shoot professional-quality videos and photos safely and effortlessly.”

Neo is designed to be operated without a remote control, making it incredibly easy for users to capture stunning aerial footage. With just the press of a button, users can select their desired shooting mode, and Neo takes care of the rest, shooting 12MP stills or 4K/30fps stabilized videos. The AI subject tracking feature ensures smooth and captivating follow shots, whether the user is skateboarding, cycling, or hiking. Its six QuickShots modes, including Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang, provide creative freedom with just a tap.

For those who prefer more control, the DJI Neo is compatible with the DJI Fly app, RC controllers, and DJI Goggles. Whether flying with voice commands or using virtual joysticks via Wi-Fi, the Neo offers a control range of up to 50 meters. When paired with DJI’s RC-N3 controller, the drone’s range extends to 10 kilometers, giving users the flexibility to capture professional-level footage from a distance.

With 22GB of internal storage, the Neo can store up to 40 minutes of 4K video. Its quick-transfer feature allows users to seamlessly send footage to the DJI Fly app for easy editing and sharing.

    The Side Tripper

“Make sure you don’t take any side trips,” warns Schumler, from a phrase in the 1993 American film Swing Kids. If you are someone who does not have time to lose, then it is better for you to stick to your main agenda, because there is something about side tripping that submerges the soul in experiences that sometimes make you hope that time would stand still, as the experiences they bring can be more impactful than the main trip itself. It is that free flowing agenda, an unexpected sleepover or a detour that has unintentionally brought pleasant surprises. You can live without it, like you can eat a cake without its icing, but your journey may not be as meaningful. If travel is the ‘best medicine for the heart’,* then for me, side trips are secret ingredients to the most memorable travels and other events that can happen in between or off the main route of one’s itineraries. Welcome to Side Tripper, a collection of photographs and blogs about the many side trip adventures of our family and friends. *Source: The Global Commission on Aging and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, in partnership with the U.S. Travel Association (Los Angeles Times, December 17, 2013 by Chris Erskine)
