Love at First Cup: Daily Chef French Vanilla Cappuccino

“ Coffee isn’t just a drink. It’s a cup of sanity.” – Aunty Acid

An unexpected visit to my cousin led to my first encounter with Daily Chef Vanilla Cappuccino.  Knowing too well that fondness for coffee runs in the family, my cousin brought it out from her pantry midway our conversation, and it is still half full from the time she brought it home from Florida in the U.S.A. “One scoop is equivalent to 1 cup,” she said.

Just pour hot water over a scoopful, stir and there, I was in for a perfectly delicious cup of coffee.  A sip is not enough. One cup is not enough either, but I had to stop myself at the 2nd cup lest I’d risk losing the appetite for sleep.

I wondered if it’s something I could buy locally, and all along we thought it’s available only in Duty Free or a membership shopping store like S&R. I’m only so glad to know that some stores like Rustan’s also import this brand, although not all of its branches would have this. After a conscious effort to search for it, I finally found my collection at Rustan’s Forbes Park branch.

If you’re a coffee lover and like the mouth-feel  of caramel, vanilla and cream like me, then this one is definitely a must try.

    The Side Tripper

“Make sure you don’t take any side trips,” warns Schumler, from a phrase in the 1993 American film Swing Kids. If you are someone who does not have time to lose, then it is better for you to stick to your main agenda, because there is something about side tripping that submerges the soul in experiences that sometimes make you hope that time would stand still, as the experiences they bring can be more impactful than the main trip itself. It is that free flowing agenda, an unexpected sleepover or a detour that has unintentionally brought pleasant surprises. You can live without it, like you can eat a cake without its icing, but your journey may not be as meaningful. If travel is the ‘best medicine for the heart’,* then for me, side trips are secret ingredients to the most memorable travels and other events that can happen in between or off the main route of one’s itineraries. Welcome to Side Tripper, a collection of photographs and blogs about the many side trip adventures of our family and friends. *Source: The Global Commission on Aging and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, in partnership with the U.S. Travel Association (Los Angeles Times, December 17, 2013 by Chris Erskine)
