By Apple has officially announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, introducing a new form factor that combines a compact outer display with a spacious inner screen. When unfolded, the device features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, described as 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display, while its 5.4-inch outer displayprovides a more compact experience when closed. Both displays support ProMotion, Always On, and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness, while the inner screen uses a custom nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and minimize the visibility of the crease. Its Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield protection, scratch-resistant inner display coating, and IP68 water and dust resistance are designed to provide durability in a pocketable foldable design.
At the heart of the iPhone Duo is Apple’s A20 Pro chip, featuring a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engine, supported by an advanced thermal management system with a custom vapor chamber. The camera system combines a 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x optical-quality zoom and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera with macro photography, alongside a Center Stage front camera and an under-display FaceTime camera. New foldable-specific features include Smart Take, which can automatically capture a photo when subjects are ready; Duo Preview, which lets subjects see a live preview on the outer display; and Kid Cue, which uses animations to help capture children’s attention. Video capabilities include 4K recording at up to 120fps in Dolby Vision, while iOS 27 introduces flexible split-screen multitasking and new experiences across different orientations.
Battery life is rated at up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours using the outer display, with fast wired charging capable of reaching 50 percent in around 20 minutes. The iPhone Duo also features a dual-battery system, eSIM connectivity, Crash Detection, Find My, and Apple Intelligence-powered photography tools. Available in Star White and Night Sky, storage options range from 256GB to 2TB. Philippine pricing starts at ₱159,990 for 256GB, rising to ₱175,990 for 512GB, ₱207,990 for 1TB, and ₱254,990 for 2TB. Apple has yet to announce the official Philippine availability date, while pre-orders in select markets are scheduled to begin October 16, with availability starting October 23.
